Rolex 24 In Daytona 2013

Thank you Daytona International Speedway for another great year at the Rolex24.  Every year I tend to get lucky with getting behind the scenes, getting to go where no one is allowed, and seeing the race in some of the best spots because of it. I did spend a good bit of time in the grand stands this year trying to figure out where the best spot is if I ever came back for a NASCAR event and had to pay for a ticket too.

This year, I got lucky and somehow pass through security to walk the pits!  The pits are were you see the "raw" of racing.  Staying around for a while, you are bound to see something cool.  On a refuel stop, Dener Motorsports, car number 21 went all out by jumping on the hood to feed the car what it needs with Mr. Fireman Safety behind.

Winner of the 51st Rolex24 2013 was Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sebates in car 01 for the Daytona Prototypes.  Drivers: Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, Charlie Kimball, and the man who held off VelocityWW's car #10 was the famous Juan Pablo Montoya for Riley BMW in their S62 engine with 709 laps.

On a side note, the best driving was out of Turner Motorsports BMW with the driver around the 3am time slot. I followed that yellow beast for much of the race, but the night driver was unbelievably good, passing 2 other GT cars around turn 3 was just one of the magnificent moves that I will never forget.
Kudos Turner!

Thanks again Daytona International Speedway for another great race!!
