Audi Electric Bike Prototype is Leading the Industry

German luxury automotive company Audi introduced the most advanced carbon fiber electric bike (e-bike) on the market as part of its collection at the 2012 W├Ârthersee Tour, which took place in Carinthia, Austria, May 16-19, 2012. The lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) bike frame weighs 3.5 pounds and approximately 24 pounds with the electric motor. The CFRP frame only uses material reinforcement at load points. The electric engine can fully charge in 2.5 hours and has enough energy to power the bike’s built-in WiFi hub. In addition to the frame, Audi also fitted the bike with 2-inch CFRP bike rims.
