Moonshine and Racing

Yes when liquor was illegal they had to be fast to out the police. Go to the 43rd Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, GA--Oct 23-24, 2010 for the Car Tour "Moonshine Run"
on Friday, October 22nd:

Moonshine Run participants will gather at the City Municipal Complex with check-in from 9:00 am until 9:45 am. The tour will depart Dawsonville at 10:00 am. Our route will take us through the heart of Northeast Georgia moonshine country with our first stop being at Vogel State Park in Blairsville, GA. The State Park is a beautiful setting for the moonshine era cars and visitors. We will also be able to enjoy a tour of the CCC Boys Museum and visit with J.M. Burt, author of “God-Fearing Criminals”. You can tap your toes to country music while you enjoy a delicious barbeque lunch with all the trimmings. The tour will continue along more scenic mountain roads as we travel a little further north then make our way back to Dawsonville, GA by mid-afternoon just in time to attend the Moonshine Festival Cruise-In activities and the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Banquet.

Cars of 1958 vintage and older recommended.
-Resto-rods are welcome.
-Vehicles must be capable of maintaining a cruising speed of at least 45-50 mph. Much of the tour is over steep mountain grades so a good cooling system and good brakes are required.
-Cost of Moonshine Run Tour is $45 per car; $10 each additional rider. Lunch is included.
-Registration Deadline is Sept. 1, 2010. No refunds will be issued after Oct. 1, 2010.
