Frbiz Reports Auto Plastic Has Prosperous Market Future

BEIJING, June 29 /PRNewswire-Asia/ --, one of China's leading B2B search platforms, reports on China's auto plastic industry's prosperous market.

Frbiz considers plastic a modern economic development, especially in automotive applications where it can be used to "reduce, reuse, recycle." An important material, the manufacture is a pollution-free, low-consumption, high efficiency process; most of the plastics can be recycled after use, which is a typical resource-saving and environmentally friendly. Frbiz judges that China's auto industry, as the pillar industry of national economy, relies on plastics in the production of auto parts -- plastic sources and auxiliary materials production, processing equipment and the overall technology, plastic products research, development and application -- to make achievements that attract worldwide attention, make historic leaps, and produce bright prospects.

At present, auto uses for plastic account for 8-10% of total consumption. For the automobile industry in developed countries, the average amount of plastic during the 1990s was 100-130kg rising to 194kg in 2009. Automotive plastics consumption in Europe is basically 10-14%, the average amount of plastic is 100-220Kg/vehicle. High oil prices are driving higher plastic use in order to reduce body weight and create higher fuel efficiency.

Frbiz analyzes that modern cars using plastic for PP, PVC, ABS, PA, PC, PE, and thermosetting composite materials also have great demand for resins, and the demand for PVB is at about 85% of its total demand.

The largest varieties of automobile plastic is PP, rapidly growing 2.2- 2.8% every year. It is expected that in 2020, the average amount of plastic in vehicles in developed countries will reach 500kg/vehicle. At present, Chinese vehicles with plastic PP account for about 40% of the market, followed by PU, ABS, PVC, and PE.

Recent years, vehicle weight reduction has become a main direction for automobile materials development. In the future, the major direction of energy saving and environmental protection in development of the auto industry will be the major topics, with plastics and its composite materials accelerating the auto industry toward its aim; using plastic to produce car parts, the biggest benefits are reduced vehicle weight, lower costs and processes, and improved performance.
