Lotus choses Creative Composites for engine covers

A Lisburn company has won a six-figure contract to make engine covers for a new high performance Lotus sports car.

Creative Composites, which makes high-tech materials, will work with the technical team at Lotus Cars to make high-specification components for the Lotus Evora.

The company would not specify how much the deal is worth because of the high levels of competition in the industry — but sales manager James Graham said the contract should keep its 80 workers busy for at least five years.

He added the company hoped it would bring even more work.

“We see this as the thin end of the wedge and believe we will be doing a lot more for Lotus, hopefully creating jobs further down the line.”

Creative Composites, now a UK market leader in composite design and manufacturing, was part of the Boxmore Group before it was created as an independently-owned company following a management buy-out.

Jonathan Holmes, commercial director at Creative Composites, said: “Working with the team at Lotus has been a terrific experience — their approach to product development has been an ideal fit with our own culture of innovation. Lotus Cars is a welcome addition to our existing portfolio of customers.”
